Kody Clark Metcalf, 28, is charged with 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

According to court documents, on Oct. 9, 2025, the Lehi Police Department was forwarded a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The initial tip was from Synchronoss Technologies, a “cloud-based storage provider for content stored on the Verizon cloud.”

NCMEC received the tip from Synchronoss on Oct. 1, and they provided a phone number, name, and address connected to the account when they forwarded the tip to the Lehi Police Department.

The tip was also connected to six other tips involving CSAM, all attached to the same Verizon phone number. Documents say that those six tips contained upwards of 30 files of verified CSAM.

A Lehi detective began investigating the account and files associated with it. He identified three files involving CSAM and requested a search warrant for Metcalf’s home in Lehi.

Cell phones, a laptop, and other electronic devices were seized when the warrant was served, and Metcalf reportedly provided the passwords for the devices so police could perform a search.

On Metcalf’s phone, the officer searched through his video files and allegedly discovered 12 additional videos with CSAM. Some of those videos depicted very young children. Two of the files were the same as those shared by NCMEC through the tip.

Metcalf was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail, where he is being held with bail.

Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
