This cold front will have a decent amount of upper-level support. This means that severe weather will be on the table. It’s a bit early to pinpoint the extent of the severe weather threat and what impacts any storms could bring. Chances are that the storms will be strongest to the west of our area and should be weakening as they move in on Saturday night. Keep in mind that we are still nearly a week away from this event, so things will likely change some.
Severe weather or not, it appears that we could receive a decent amount of needed rain. The Blend of Models is now showing that most of the area could receive around 1” of rain next weekend. A second, weaker disturbance could bring another chance of rain by the middle of next week.
Weather Worry Index 3 out of 10: As of right now, I would put my level of ‘worry’ about next weekend’s disturbance at 3 out of 10. If it becomes more certain that the storms will arrive later Saturday night, then this number could go down. If they arrive earlier, then it could go up. Stay tuned!
