IMPD: 3 arrested after tip surrounding narcotics, weapons activity

INDIANAPOLIS — Three individuals were arrested earlier this month after a tip regarding suspected narcotics and weapons activity.

According to officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, detectives with the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force arrested an unidentified 17-year-old, as well as 30-year-old Antoine Divine Jr. and 33-year-old Joharie Fields, on numerous firearms and narcotics charges. Divine was also arrested for an outstanding local felony warrant.

This comes after IMPD’s nuisance abatement unit reportedly received a tip regarding “suspected narcotics activity and possession of a firearm equipped with a machine gun conversion device.”

Officials with IMPD said that during the investigation, task force detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, which led to the arrest of both Divine and Fields. The two were taken into custody on preliminary charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, as well as possession of a narcotic.

While officers attempted to serve a search warrant at a home in relation to the investigation, IMPD officials said that is when the 17-year-old was taken into custody. The teen reportedly attempted to flee the area while armed with a handgun equipped with a machine gun conversion device.

When the teen was taken into custody, he was found to have the firearm, as well as marijuana. He has been preliminarily charged with:

• Possession of a machine gun
• Dangerous possession of a firearm by a minor
• Dealing marijuana
• Resisting law enforcement

Officials with IMPD said that the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will ultimately make the final charging decisions related to this case.
