Police said they were called to the 500 block of East 79th Street at Line Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, to investigate a reported shooting.
Through their investigation, Shreveport police determined that Loston was the first to fire a weapon, and a 15-year-old juvenile returned fire, fatally wounding Loston.
Loston was pronounced dead at 7:52 p.m. at Ochsner LSU Health hospital, where he was transported after the shooting.
His death marks the 31st homicide in Shreveport and the 36th homicide in Caddo Parish in 2025. The teen faces possession of a firearm by a juvenile and possession of a gun inside a city park. Any charge related to homicide would be determined by the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office.
The Shreveport Police Department said, “Footage from the Real Time Crime Center was instrumental in solving this case. The video evidence confirmed that Loston fired first, helping investigators quickly establish the sequence of events.”.
SPD urges parents and guardians to take an active role in educating their children about the dangers and consequences of possessing or using firearms.
