Carmel PD: 1 detained after car crash on I-465

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. — Officers with the Carmel Police Department detained a man after a car crash on Interstate 465 Saturday night.

Public emergency reporting systems indicate units from the Carmel police and fire departments and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office responded to mile marker 30 of I-465 westbound — which is located between West 96th Street and Springmill Road — around 6:07 p.m. to clean up and investigate a crash.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they located two crashed vehicles. CPD confirmed that nobody was injured during the crash.

Police also reported that they detained a man during their investigation of the crash. The preliminary charge the man was detained on was leaving the scene of a crash.

Hamilton County authorities closed all lanes of the roadway while they worked the case. I-465 westbound began reopening around 6:40 p.m.
