HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that killed a person after a police pursuit in Sheridan Thursday morning.
According to HCSO, officers with the Sheridan Police Department were investigating a report of a stolen vehicle when the suspect reportedly fled the scene and ignored their commands to conduct a traffic stop.
During the pursuit, police briefly lost sight of the suspect. A short time later, HCSO stated that officers located the suspect’s crashed vehicle in Veterans Park near the intersection of E. First Street and S. Georgia Street. Officers quickly provided medical aid to the injured driver. However, HCSO confirmed the driver was pronounced dead on the scene.
The HCSO Crash Team is leading the investigation into the pursuit and fatal crash, following the Sheridan Police Department’s request for assistance. As of this article’s publication, HCSO has not identified the deceased individual.
