These are the most-searched Halloween costumes in the Indianapolis-area
But will ghouls, ghosts and vampires be on the menu for the most popular Halloween costumes? Or has the latest pop culture trend dominated the hearts and minds of Hoosier youths?
Google Trends reveals that “K-Pop Demon Hunters” characters are the most searched for Halloween costumes in the Indianapolis area— and the United States as a whole.
Google’s spooky “Frightgeist” tracked the most searched for Halloween costumes so far this Halloween season. Leading the way is Rumi from the smash Netflix hit “K-Pop Demon Hunters.” This popular outfit has created a surge in parents looking for purple braided hair, according to Google Metrics.
Across the United States, “K-Pop Demon Hunters” claimed six out of the top 10 most searched Halloween costumes.
In the Indianapolis area, the Demon Hunters still reign supreme with three of the top five spots.
Hoosiers are unique, however, in their love for “Talladega Nights” lead character Ricky Bobby. A fictional NASCAR driver played by Will Ferrell, Ricky Bobby has apparently raced his way into the top Halloween costumes for the Indianapolis area despite the movie being nearly 20 years old.
But like Ricky Bobby’s father said, “you can be second, you can be third, fourth, hell, you can be fifth.” And that’s right where Ricky wound up.
Other popular Indiana-specific Halloween costume trends include Michael Myers (Halloween), Princess Leia (Star Wars), Padme (Star Wars), Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story) and a plague doctor as being popular Google costume searches in the Terra Haute region.
In Fort Wayne, Superwoman, Shego (Kim Possible) a ghost and Daphne (Scooby Doo) joined Rumi from “K-Pop Demon Hunters” among the most searched costumes.
In other parts of Indiana, some more unique costume searches included Adam Sandler (South Bend region), Chucky (South Bend region), ostrich (Evansville region), and Art the Clown from the “Terrifier” film series (Evansville region).
Google’s “Frightgeist” also tracked the most searched couples’ costumes and dog costumes across the United States. Some highlights for couples’ costumes include Dr. Evil and Mini Me, Beavis and Butthead, Thing 1 and Thing 2, and — the number one duo costume search — Astrid and Hiccup from “How to Train Your Dragon.”
