Haunts across Kentucky serving up scares ahead of Halloween
Here are just a few frightful attractions open right now across the Bluegrass that are guaranteed to be a scream:
Dubbed “Louisville’s newest nightmare,” the nationally top-rated Devil’s Attic creates moments from your most feared scary movies and brings them to life in an interactive environment, combined with grotesque and horrific twists on classic All Hallows’ Eve traditions and, of course, monsters.
“The results of many years of planning and passion is sure to frighten even the bravest of souls,” haunt organizers wrote.

It’s terror time again! One of the biggest and scariest trails in the state is a can’t-miss trip every October.
The family-owned and operated haunt features a whole new area this year, based on the Myers house from the horror masterpiece “Halloween,” in addition to a school bus full of fright headed by Chuckles the Clown, the iconic “Trails of Terror,” a fun house of horror, and more.
On Saturday, Oct. 11, visitors can take a photo with the ECTO-1 car from “Ghostbusters!” A DJ will also be laying down spooky beats for guests all night long.

Settled in its final resting place along the Ohio River, the former massive dredge ship William S. Mitchell, built in 1934, has been resurrected as the USS Nightmare. The ghosts of the crew and officers are said to linger from a grisly accident when the ship broke free on the river.
On Oct. 10 through 12, guests can take a self-guided tour through the vessel’s first level for $6. For the more extreme thrill-seekers, the ship offers an “RIP Experience” allowing visitors to see additional parts of the ship, even those they may not want to.
“Guests can expect a more interactive and extended tour of the ship designed for death with access to additional areas and the potential for complete separation from the civilized world,” haunted tour planners said.
If that sounds a bit too intense, the USS Nightmare runs a variety of family-friendly tours and events throughout October.
