DeMarco Morgan to lead JSU's 2025 homecoming parade
In 2022, Morgan became part of the ABC News anchor rotation for Good Morning America’s third hour, later becoming a permanent anchor in 2023 until earlier this year.
“When I got the call, I was absolutely blown away. It is truly an honor to be celebrated by your own,” said Morgan. “Never in my wildest imagination would I have thought I’d be leading Jackson State’s homecoming parade.”
Morgan has worked as a correspondent and anchor in Jackson, Milwaukee, Miami, Atlanta and New York. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from JSU with honors in 2001 and a master’s in journalism from Columbia University in New York.
Beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, the Homecoming Parade will begin at the Metro Parkway and Prentiss Street. It will travel east on the parkway to Gallatin Street, then south to Pascagoula Street.
The parade will turn back west on Pascagoula Street and then merge into University Boulevard. Once the parade reaches the judge’s viewing stand at the intersection of University Boulevard and J.R. Lynch Street, it will turn west towards Dalton Street, where it will conclude.
JSU officials said the parade route streets will be blocked off and inaccessible beginning at 3:00 a.m. on October 11, 2025. University Boulevard will be accessible for parking and entry to the campus for parade spectators.
