OPELOUSAS, LA. (KLFY) — An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting incident that occurred near
Oak and Laurent Streets which placed
South Louisiana Community College (SLCC) on a temporary lockdown on Oct. 7, police said.
Police arrested Demarion Tyrese Leblanc of Opelousas and charged him with one count illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities felony and two counts of aggravated criminal damage to property felony, officials reported.
According to police, a vehicle parked in the vicinity was struck and two adults were inside the vehicle at the time but were not involved in the shooting and sustained no injuries.
At the moment, officers said they will continue to actively investigate the incident, and additional arrests may be pending.
