UNC football coach suspended; accused of providing extra benefits: The Athletic

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WGHP) — A member of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s football coaching staff has been suspended after he allegedly provided extra benefits to family members of a player, The Athletic reports.

The allegations of extra benefits first came to light in a report from WRAL surrounding issues that have arisen thus far in the tenure of Bill Belichick.

According to The Athletic, cornerbacks coach Armond Hawkins is the coach who is being suspended. The alleged extra benefits were in the form of sideline passes for a game.

UNC has struggled mightily thus far in the Belichick era, with a 2-3 record that includes three blowout losses to higher-level competition.
