Tractor-trailer overturns, spills lettuce across I-70 in Washington County: Officials

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Crews are working to clean up lettuce off Interstate 70 after a tractor-trailer overturned in Washington County on Wednesday morning.

Details are limited; however, the Washington County Division of Emergency Services said the truck crashed near St. Paul Road around 5:45 a.m. on Oct. 8.

“The truck is carrying lettuce, and cleanup is expected to continue through the morning rush hour,” said officials in a post on social media.

In an update about three hours later, officials said the crash led to traffic delays on MD 68.

No one was hurt during the crash.

As of Wednesday afternoon, all lanes on I-70 East remained closed.

Delays are expected to continue into the afternoon, and drivers should find alternative routes.
