Santa Rosa teen arrested for alleged threat toward school

(KRON) — A Santa Rosa teenager told deputies he was making a joke when he posted a bomb threat to social media, authorities said Wednesday.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office became aware of the bomb threat late Tuesday night. Authorities said the reported post threatened a school located outside of Sonoma County.

Investigators identified the person who allegedly made the post as 18-year-old Ryan Sweeney. A search of Sweeney’s residence “confirmed he did not have access to any bomb-making materials,” the sheriff’s office said.
