ALEXANDRIA, La. (WNTZ) – A pedestrian was critically injured Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Murray Street and Second Street, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Police said officers responded to the scene around 3:55 p.m. on Oct. 8, where they found the pedestrian seriously hurt. The victim was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition as of Thursday morning.

The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene. Routine toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis as part of standard procedure, authorities said.

The incident remains under investigation by Alexandria Police.
