Evidence found that Emporia fire was intentionally set

Christine Torrens with the City of Emporia said that firefighters were called around 4:20 p.m. on Sept. 20 regarding reports of a fire in the 1100 block of Constitution Street. Fire crews arriving at the scene found an active structure fire and began work to bring the flames under control.

Fire investigators later looked into the cause of the fire and, based on the evidence they collected, determined someone intentionally set the fire. A juvenile has been referred to the Lyon County Attorney’s Office to face possible charges in connection to this incident.
