On Friday, August 15, officers were notified of a fraud-related incident that was reported to investigators in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The incident involved the misuse of a social security number belonging to the victim, officials said.
Investigators determined the social security number had been fraudulently used by the suspect to gain employment with Cleveland County Schools.
On September 22, investigators obtained warrants for 58-year-old Janet Yevette Martin from Chesnee, South Carolina. According to police, the warrants were for:
On September 23, Martin was arrested in South Carolina on unrelated fraud charges. Officials said she waived extradition and was served with the North Carolina warrants on Monday, October 6.
