New video shows helicopter plummet into Northern California freeway
The nearly one-minute 30-second video shows a REACH Air Medical Services helicopter coasting through the sky before it crashed into a busy Highway 50 around 7 p.m. on Monday.
Several cars are seen driving eastbound on the freeway at about 65 miles per hour, barely missing the impact of the crash. After the helicopter lands, it erupts into smoke.
Immediately after the crash, video footage shows several cars pulling over, and some passengers exit their vehicles. Bystanders can be seen running toward the helicopter crash. On board the helicopter were a pilot, a nurse, and a paramedic.
According to first responders, a large group of people helped lift the helicopter off the crash victims. The helicopter passengers were taken to UC Davis Medical Center, where they remain in critical condition. Besides the passengers inside the helicopter, no other injuries were reported.
