Fatal double shooting under investigation in New Orleans East

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a deadly double shooting in a New Orleans East neighborhood.

According to officers, around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, they responded to the 14700 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

Upon arrival, officers reported finding a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

NOLA EMS pronounced them dead on the scene.

No further details are available at this time. The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release their identities after an autopsy is done and families are notified.
