Aircraft makes emergency landing in Vineyard near Utah Lake
VINEYARD, Utah (ABC4) — A small aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on the shore of Utah Lake in Vineyard earlier this evening.
According to Orem Fire Department, a small aircraft made an emergency landing near Sunset Drive, which is on the shore of Utah Lake in Vineyard. Orem fire crews, as well as the Utah County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
The plane had reportedly left South Valley Airport in West Jordan, when the pilot reported engine trouble. According to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, the pilot began to head t the Provo Airport and attempted to troubleshoot the issue.
At some point, the pilot realized they would not make it to Provo airport and made the emergency landing.

Two individuals were on board the plane, and both were able to exit the plane by themselves, according to Sean Hirst with the Orem Fire Department. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though the plane sustained some damage during the landing.
The investigation is still ongoing, and officials have not yet determined exactly why the engine trouble occurred. The Federal Aviation Administration has been contacted and is going to conduct their own investigation.
This is the second plane incident that was reported in Utah today. Earlier, the pilot of a single-engine plane had to make an emergency landing on I-84 in Morgan County. Fortunately, nobody was injured during that incident either.
