90-year-old man identified after being hit, killed by car in Alabama

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — The Morgan County Coroner has identified a man who died after being hit by a vehicle on Tuesday.

Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn identified the man as Fred C. Swope, 90, of Decatur.

DPD said around 7:59 a.m. Tuesday morning, 911 received a call about a crash involving a pedestrian in the 1800 block of 11th Street SE.

The department said officers, along with Decatur Fire and Rescue, responded.

DPD said one man was found injured on the scene, and medical personnel attempted CPR, but the man ultimately died of his injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene by Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn.

The department said the driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene. The incident is currently under investigation.
