The driver failed to comply and sped off, driving recklessly, police said.
Oakland PD pursued the vehicle but ended the pursuit due to unsafe conditions, police said. Visual contact was maintained through OPD’s ARGUS helicopter as the vehicle sped through Oakland.
The vehicle stopped at the intersection of Harold Street and Coolidge Avenue where the driver got out and was taken into custody. The passenger moved into the driver’s seat sped off again, still driving recklessly.
ARGUS continued to monitor the vehicle, and eventually, it stopped again at 41st Avenue and East 16th Street. The second driver got out and was taken into custody.
Police recovered multiple firearms and ammunition. Both suspects, police said, were found to have several outstanding arrest warrants.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
