16-year-old critically injured in shooting on Chicago’s South Side, police say

CHICAGO (WGN) — A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot Tuesday afternoon in the city’s Roseland neighborhood.

Chicago police say the teen was in the front yard of a residence in the 11300 block of South Stewart Avenue around 4:30 p.m. when he was struck in the head by gunfire from an unknown offender.

The victim was taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition.

Police say a firearm was recovered at the scene, and Area Two detectives are investigating the shooting.
