In September, Synovus presented a $100,000 check to the Phoebe Sumter Foundation through its ‘Here Matters Donor Advised Fund’.
According to Phoebe, the money will go towards ‘The Family Tree’ childcare program, which will provide childcare for hospital employees, serving approximately 50 children.
“Investing in childcare is investing in our people. This new facility will help ease the burden for parents working in demanding healthcare roles, giving them peace of mind while ensuring we continue to provide excellent care to our community,” said Katherine Council, Phoebe Sumter Foundation Director.
Phoebe Sumter leaders say that the hospital is prepared to staff and equip the childcare facility once construction is finished. The $100,000 donation from Synovus will go directly toward construction costs, helping make the vision of Family Tree Sumter a reality.
The Sumter facility will be located on PSMC’s campus and is projected to open in 2027. The program will operate with full state certification.
