Starbucks, based in Seattle, Washington, has seen tremendous growth over the past 20 years. However, that growth appears to be stalled in the current climate of the economy and stores are being closed.
According to Pennsylvania’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) website, Starbucks has filed to close six shops in the commonwealth by the start of December.
The closures follow recent trends of businesses assessing their bottom line and cutting stores that may not be as profitable as they want. Several retailers have closed altogether, including Big Lots and Rite Aid.
These are the six Starbucks stores that are reportedly closing.
- 1500 Market Street, Philadelphia
- 1900 Market Street, Philadelphia
- 1128 Walnut Street, Philadelphia
- 1801 Spruce Street, Philadelphia
- 490 North Broad Street, Philadelphia
- 1709 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia
According to the WARN filing, it’s unknown how many jobs will be lost, but the company reportedly plans to close the stores by Dec. 5.
