LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — MMR Group announced a $55.2 million investment to establish a new assembly facility in Lafayette Parish, creating nearly 200 new jobs with average salaries of $85,000.

The facility will expand production of electrical components used in fast-growing sectors such as data centers and semiconductors. The project is part of the Acadiana leg of Louisiana Economic Development’s Driving Louisiana Opportunity tour, which aims to conduct a record 800 business retention and expansion visits this year.

“MMR, a Baton Rouge based company, longtime Louisiana company, is actually opening a new manufacturing facility here in Lafayette,” said Susan B. Bourgeois, Secretary of Louisiana Economic Development.

The new facility will sustain more than 3,000 existing MMR positions across Louisiana. The company has purchased an existing building in Lafayette, which will be renovated to meet their manufacturing needs.

Bourgeois emphasized the importance of supporting existing Louisiana businesses, noting that MMR Group chose Lafayette for its workforce and business-friendly tax policy.

“Clearly, there’s something going on here,” Bourgeois said.

She highlighted recent meetings with other technology companies like CGI and the arrival of drone manufacturers in the area.

The company expects the facility to be operational within the next 6 to 8 months, contributing to wage growth in the region, with salaries 130% above the average wage in Lafayette.
