CRAIGSVILLE, W.Va. (WOWK) — A man is facing charges after a shooting over the weekend in Nicholas County, West Virginia.

According to the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened just before 2:50 a.m. on Saturday in Craigsville. Deputies said that four individuals went to the suspect’s home, during which time, a physical altercation broke out between the suspect and one of the other individuals.

The sheriff’s office said that during the altercation, the suspect, identified by authorities as Kenneth Butler, 62, of Craigsville, allegedly brandished a handgun. They said that the gun was taken from him during the altercation, but Butler allegedly produced a second handgun and fired multiple times.

According to deputies, the victim was struck in the lower leg and taken to Summersville Regional Hospital by his friends. The victim was later taken to Ruby Memorial in Morgantown.

The sheriff’s office said that Butler was arrested for malicious wounding and wanton endangerment. He was taken to the Central Regional Jail, where he remains on a $60,000 bond as of Monday afternoon.

Deputies said that the incident is still under investigation.
