1 seriously injured after apparent explosion in Plainfield

PLAINFIELD, Ind. — A person was seriously injured during an apparent explosion in Plainfield Sunday night.

Public emergency reporting systems indicate crews with the Plainfield Fire Territory were dispatched to the 2100 block of Shadowbrook Drive to investigate a reported explosion around 7:30 p.m. When crews arrived in the area, they found a single-family home that appeared to have sustained “some moderate damage consistent with some type of explosion.”

PFT indicated that a small fire was still actively burning when units made it to the scene. That fire was rapidly extinguished, according to PFT.

Crews transported one person from the scene to a local hospital with serious injuries.

PFT investigators and utility companies have responded to the scene to try to pin down the exact cause of the explosion.
