Springfield driver involved in deadly pedestrian crash in Connecticut
WINDSOR, Conn. (WWLP) – Connecticut State Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Windsor on Saturday by a Springfield driver.

Connecticut State Police said that the incident occurred at approximately 7:04 p.m. on Saturday. Investigation revealed that a pedestrian was standing in the left shoulder of I-91 north, south of Exit 40, in Windsor after being involved in a prior traffic crash. The pedestrian allegedly walked into the travel lane for an unknown reason and was then struck by a vehicle.

The vehicle and the pedestrian both came to a stop at the left shoulder. The driver and the passenger, both of Springfield, Mass., had no reported injuries. The pedestrian, identified as 30-year-old Santiago Jimenez of Meriden, Conn., was brought to Hartford Hospital, where he died shortly after.

The Connecticut State Police is investigating the collision. They are asking anyone who may have captured dash camera footage to contact 860-534-1000.
