Female held at Shreveport City Jail dies during hospital visit

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A female being held at Shreveport City Jail died at a local hospital on Friday, police say.

The Shreveport Police Department is investigating the death of the female who was arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on September 20, 2025, suspected of entering and remaining after forbidden.

On Thursday, October 2, 2025, the woman was brought by officers to Ochsner LSU Health for a medical evaluation. SPD noted that her hospital visit was “in accordance with department policy regarding infectious diseases.” She reportedly experienced additional health complications, causing her condition to worsen. She died on October 3 due to these suspected health issues.

SPD Detectives with the Investigations Division are reviewing the details of the incident, which police say indicated that the woman’s death resulted from a catastrophic medical event.

The woman’s name will be released after SPD has contacted her next of kin. No additional information is currently available.
