SALT LAKE CITY (
ABC4) — A man has been pronounced dead after being
struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk in Salt Lake City’s Poplar Grove neighborhood Friday morning, according to Salt Lake City Police.
The victim is identified as Jesse Marchant, 65.
Shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 3, police received multiple calls about a man hit by a car at 2000 West 500 South, near the Salt Lake City Fleet Department in the Poplar Grove neighborhood. Multiple agencies responded and found Marchant with life-threatening injuries.
Gold Cross Ambulance took Marchant to a local hospital, where he died several hours later.
Preliminary information suggests that a car was driving eastbound on 500 South when it struck Marchant while he was crossing the road in a crosswalk near 2000 West. The specific cause and circumstances of the crash are under investigation.
The driver reportedly remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
