PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Police are now investigating a homicide after a shooting outside a movie theater left a man dead and another hurt in Woodbridge.
The shooting broke out around 10:48 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, outside the Alamo Drafthouse located in the Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center.
According to the Prince William County Police Department, a 21-year-old man was shot repeatedly outside the movie theatre following an “encounter” with another person.
Police noted that the man was found on the sidewalk near the theater. Medics tried to save him, but he died from his injuries.
The victim was identified as Jasiya Ahmar Vaugn, of Woodbridge.
An 18-year-old was also located in the area with a graze wound and is expected to be OK.
Following the shooting, the suspect left the area and has not been located as of Friday.
The investigation is ongoing; however, detectives believe the shooting was not random. Witnesses and anyone with information about the shooting are urged to call the police.
