JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an in-custody death that happened Friday morning, Oct. 3.
JPSO deputies reported that at 10 a.m., a female inmate was taken from the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center to a hospital after experiencing a “medical emergency.”
Moments later, at 10:50 a.m., she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
No further details are available at this time. The Jefferson Parish Coroner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
