13th Gate in Baton Rouge ranked among top 5 scariest haunted attractions in US

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — 13th Gate has once again earned national recognition, landing at the top of America Haunts’ list of the five scariest haunted attractions in the country for 2025.

Known for its hyper-realistic sets and immersive storytelling, the Baton Rouge haunt has been a Halloween staple. This season, it’s debuting “Frankenstein’s Castle,” a massive multi-story experience featuring a 14-foot animatronic monster, the largest ever created for the attraction.

The 13th Gate also offers outdoor thrills, including its twisted Carnevil midway with laser maze challenges, live concerts, and the Séance Horror Show. America Haunts says the haunted house is located in a building that once operated as a slaughterhouse.

• Headless Horseman Hayrides & Haunted Attractions in Ulster Park, N.Y.
• Cutting Edge Haunted House in Fort Worth, Texas
• The Bates Motel & Haunted Hayride near Philadelphia, Pa.

America Haunts, a national association of top haunted attractions, says each of the featured destinations blends cutting-edge effects, elaborate storylines, and seasoned scare actors to create some of the most intense Halloween experiences in the country.
