Shortly after 11 p.m. on July 31, 53-year-old Kimberley Jean Jesperson was crossing 4500 South from the southeast corner of State Street, when a dark colored hatchback passenger car turning east from State Street struck her in the crosswalk. Police described this as a minor collision.
This driver stopped and Jesperson is seen on surveillance footage standing at the driver’s side window of the vehicle in the eastbound lanes. Shortly after, the light changed, and a dark colored truck approached the intersection.
The driver of the truck swerved to avoid the passenger car and hit Jesperson, critically injuring her. Then, both vehicles left the area. Kimberely Jesperson was transported to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Police previously released footage of the incident from a private company called CollisionCam, which showed both vehicles involved in the hit and run.

Jesperson’s daughter, Natasha Dickinson, was celebrating her birthday on July 31, when she got the call that her mother had been rushed to the hospital. Dickinson says it has been hard since her mother’s death, “I don’t think I’ve still processed it all the way, honestly. Like I think some days are okay, some days aren’t. Some days I cry all day and some days, I just try to ignore it, but it’s hard to.”
In the two months since the fatal accident, Dickinson has had to deal with her mom’s medical expenses, funeral, and cemetery costs, but still hasn’t gotten any answers about her mother’s death.
She hopes that by bringing more awareness to the hit-and-run, the drivers will be charged, which would allow her to get financial support from Utah’s Victim Assistance program as well as bring her peace.
In part, Dickinson is frustrated that law enforcement has not found the drivers and says her family has passed out flyers and acquired footage from nearby businesses but hasn’t gotten many updates.
She also says that she is upset about the drivers’ actions, who have not yet been identified. Dickinson said, “I have no idea what that driver was thinking, but I have thought about it every day since, and I do not know how either of them drove away.”
“How can you live with yourself. How can you wake up and go to work the next day like nothing happened or continue your life or go home? It makes no sense,” Dickinson added, “I’ve been very public about this. I have reached out for help multiple times. They know what they did, and they know who they are.”
Their actions continue to affect Dickinson today. She said, “They tore my family apart. My baby won’t even remember her grandma and that’s not fair. It’s not fair.”
Police are continuing to ask the public for assistance in finding the drivers involved in this incident. If you have any information, please contact Murray Police at 801-840-4000 and reference case number MR2025-23474.
Jesperson’s family has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for funeral and memorial costs, which you can find here.
