IMPD: Indy man arrested for supplying drugs that led to fatal overdose
According to court documents, 39-year-old Andrew Greer was charged with one count of dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death, a Level 1 felony.
On Aug. 14, southeast district officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 5000 block of Southport Crossing Place on a check of two women reportedly passed out in a vehicle.
One of the women, identified as a 44-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. A news release from IMPD stated that the other woman woke up, was treated by medics and survived.
During the investigation, officers determined that the two individuals had overdosed. Detectives with the Overdose Death Task Force then linked Greer as the alleged source of the drugs used in the overdose.
On Aug. 20, officers conducted a traffic stop on Greer’s vehicle in the 5000 block of E. Michigan Street. During a search of the vehicle, the release said that evidence of drug dealing was found, including several cell phones, almost 20 grams of fentanyl and more than $1,200. At that time, Greer was arrested on drug dealing charges.
As the investigation continued, detectives were able to link Greer to the deadly overdose. A warrant was issued on Sept. 25 for the charge of dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death. On Sept. 26, Greer was apprehended on his active warrants.
The release said this is the task force’s 11th arrest related to dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death in 2025.
According to the court documents, Greer’s jury trial is scheduled to begin on Jan. 27, 2026.
