Car crashes through home in Frankford, driver runs away

PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — A car went airborne and slammed into a home in Frankford early Thursday morning.

At 3:30 a.m., police responded to a car accident at Oxford Avenue and Horrocks Street. According to the Philadelphia Police Department, a silver Toyota was traveling westbound on Oxford Avenue before stopping at a stop sign at the intersection of Oxford Avenue, Horrocks Street, and Kenwyn Street.

As the Toyota tried to continue westbound, a Honda driving southbound blew the stop sign and hit the Toyota. Officials said the crash sent the Honda into a home on the 1100 block of Kenwyn Street.

Following the crash, the Honda driver ran away from the scene, according to investigators.

The driver of the Toyota, a 31-year-old man, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections was notified of the structural damage to the home.
