The SPCA and the Bensalem Animal Control removed 71 cats and kittens from the facility on Wednesday morning following the discovery of the facilities conditions.
Cindy Kelly, who is the communications and development director described the conditions as “a chronic suffering” she added “There was just a lot of trash and debris and animal feces, smelled really strong of urine, a lot of flies, fleas. Most of the cats were actively scratching and very uncomfortable.”
The SPCA has said the 71 cats saved are currently not up for adoption, but they do have other cats who are ready for a forever home. During the month of October, the SPCA has also said they will be waiving adoption fees.
