Security van driver assaulted, robbed in Pennsylvania; FBI looking for suspects
According to the FBI, just before 7:30 a.m. on November 22, 2024, a Gardaworld security van and driver were robbed at the Rite Aid at 5214 Baltimore Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia.
Investigators say that while the driver went inside the store to pick up a cash drop, a dark-colored Buick Enclave arrived and parked next to the security van. The first suspect got out of the vehicle, opened the trunk, and stayed near the van. The FBI said when the security driver exited the store and got back to the van, the first suspect was waiting and attacked the driver with a baton-style weapon. The assailant was described as wearing an Amazon vest and a ski mask.
During the assault, the FBI said the driver of the Buick got out of the vehicle and assaulted the security van driver with brass knuckles. The second suspect was described as wearing all black clothing and a backwards hat.
According to investigators, the third suspect climbed into the driver’s seat of the Buick and backed it out of the parking space to help all three suspects get away. The second suspect took the security driver’s pistol, and the first suspect continued to assault the driver and take the bag with the Rite Aid money.
All three suspects fled the scene in the Buick.
The FBI released the following photos on Tuesday showing one of the suspects and the suspect vehicle:
The FBI is warning that the suspects should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to contact the FBI Philadelphia Field Office or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.
