Armored truck robbed in Northeast Philadelphia, two men at large

PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — Two men robbed an armored truck at gunpoint in Northeast Philadelphia on Thursday, according to police.

Authorities say around 3:15 p.m. Thursday, a Loomis armored truck driver was making a delivery at the Aldi on Whitaker Avenue when he was approached by two armed men. The driver was disarmed, and the two suspects got away with $1,000 in cash.

The suspects were last seen entering a Nissan and heading towards Roosevelt Boulevard.

As of Thursday evening, police have not made any arrests.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Northeast Detectives at 215-686-3153. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by calling or texting the Philadelphia Police Department’s tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
