Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries offers fishing workshop for women in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Calling all of the women of Louisiana. Are you interested in learning how to fish and all the other necessities for fishing? The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is hosting a women’s fishing 101 workshop.

Applications are now open for the department’s fishing workshop. Women will learn how to identify fish, best fish handling practices, preparing fishing equipment, basic fishing skills, along with cleaning, storing and cooking fish. Applications close on Oct. 31. The class is limited to 15 first-time participants.

While it is not required to register, participants must have a valid Louisiana fishing license. Each participant must be over 18 years old.

The workshop will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the LDWF Waddill Wildlife Refuge in Baton Rouge.
