Arizona man accused of assaulting McDonald’s employee in Summit County

Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — An Arizona man has been arrested and charged after allegedly assaulting and threatening a McDonald’s employee in Summit County.

Mark Anthony Sanchez, 25, of Arizona, was charged with aggravated commercial obstruction, assault with injury, threat of violence, and committing a violent offense in the presence of a child.

According to court documents, on Sept. 26, 2025, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by McDonald’s employees who reported a fight in progress. When a sheriff’s deputy arrived, he learned that Sanchez had been asked to leave because he was harassing people.

Witnesses stated that he was yelling at the employee, and after being asked to leave, Sanchez became angry, “rapidly approached her with his fists balled up,” and threatened to shove her to the ground. The employee asked him to leave again and turned to walk away.

While she was turned around, Sanchez shoved her with “such force that her head snapped back and witnesses heard a slapping sound when she hit the ground,” documents say. A child witnessed the incident, according to the sheriff’s deputy, and while the employee was falling, her hands hit the child.

Following the assault, Sanchez allegedly said that he was going to come back and “shoot everyone in the store” and “splatter [the employee’s] brain.” He then left the store and sat on the curb, which is where law enforcement found him.

When asked about what happened, documents say he responded, “Nothing happened, I was just letting off some steam.” Sanchez also denied hitting anyone. The sheriff’s deputy reviewed surveillance footage that corroborated the story told by employees and numerous witnesses.

When the employee received medical attention at the scene, her knee had sustained an injury that caused it to swell. Due to the swelling, her pants had to be cut around her knee, and medical responders recommended that she visit a doctor.

Sanchez was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail, where he is currently being held on a no-bail warrant.

According to the arrest statement, Sanchez was on pretrial release and probation with both the St. George Police Department and the Boulder, CO Police Department. He also reportedly has two active warrants out of New Mexico and Arizona for failure to appear in court.
