2 Chicagoland-based pizza chains among Yelp’s top 25 in America

CHICAGO — Yelp has just compiled a list of this year’s most loved pizza chains by reviewers, and while two Chicagoland-based pizza chains landed on the list, only one came in at #1.

The list, published on Tuesday, looks to recognize the pizza chains most loved by Yelp reviewers that deliver a local pizza joint experience on a national scale.

According to Yelp, pizza is one of the most searched dishes on the website and the list was published in honor of National Pizza Month this October.

Yelp’s #1 Pizza chain of 2025

Coming in at #1 is Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria, a Chicago-style pizzeria known for its deep dish and deep roots in the Windy City.

The first Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria opened its door on March 17, 1971, and over the next five decades, more than 70 locations opened, offering guests a taste of their beloved deep-dish in Chicagoland, Arizona, Milwaukee and Indianapolis.

But the reach of the Buffalo Grove-based chain extends beyond its dining rooms, as each restaurant sells frozen pizzas, allowing guests the chance to share a taste.

“Yelpers love the ‘Lou,’ topped with spinach, mushrooms, and sliced tomatoes, or the gluten-free ‘Crustless’ pie made with a sausage base. Whether visiting one of its Chicago storefronts or getting a pie shipped to your door, Lou Malnati’s delivers the ultimate deep dish experience—no plane ticket required,” Yelp wrote.

According to the chain, each pizza they cook up is handmade from scratch and utilizes a secret recipe to guarantee a flaky crust and cheese that has been sourced from the same dairy in Wisconsin for over 40 years.

Yelp’s #9 Pizza chain of 2025

While Chicago received plenty of recognition in the top spot, another Chicagoland-based chain also made the list.

Coming in at #9 is the Elgin-based chain Rosati’s Pizza.

With more than 200 locations, the chain serves up Chicago-style pizza around the country.

The chain says its recipes were handed down through five generations of family members.

“From its signature buttery deep dish (topped with Rosati’s Chicago-Style sauce) to crispy thin crust slices, Yelpers keep coming back for the perfect blend of authentic Chicago flavor and classic Italian comfort,” Yelp said.
