Around 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 28, officers responded to a crash in the 1600 block of E. W.T. Harris Blvd. When they arrived, they saw a damaged bike on the side of the road and an unresponsive man nearby.
The man, 59-year-old Paul Joseph Rucker, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. The driver and passenger in the vehicle were not injured and stayed at the scene. The vehicle they were in, a Ford Focus, had damage on the front.
Investigators believe Rucker was riding his bike in the middle of the road when he was struck from behind.
The driver, 44-year-old Kesha Jackson, was not believed to be impaired or speeding at the time of the crash. She was charged with driving while her license was revoked, failure to register and no liability insurance.
Rucker’s toxicology reports are pending. His family was notified of his death, police said.
