Two people extricated after head-on crash in Morganton

MORGANTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two people are suffering critical injuries after a head-on crash in Morganton, according to the Morganton Public Safety Department.

Just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to the crash in the 400 block of Kirksey Drive. When they arrived, they found two vehicles with significant front-end damage.

Two people had to be extricated from the vehicles and were taken to a local hospital with critical injuries, officials said. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Both directions of traffic were temporarily closed for emergency operations to assess the scene.
