No injuries reported from structure fire in Morganton

MORGANTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — NC 18 South in Morganton was closed for several hours while crews worked to put out a structure fire, according to Burke County officials.

Around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, crews responded to a fully involved structure fire on the 300 block of Brookwood Road. When they arrived, the structure was heavily engulfed in flames.

Firefighters quickly established a water supply on-site, which required NC 18 South to briefly shut down in the area.

Investigators confirmed that no one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Officials urge residents and drivers to avoid the area until the scene is fully cleared.
