Visalia Police search for driver who hit pedestrian, fled

VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Law enforcement is searching for the driver who hit a pedestrian and left them in the roadway after fleeing the scene, Visalia police said.

Officers were dispatched to Santa Fe Street and Kaweah Avenue around 2 a.m. Sunday after it was reported that someone struck a pedestrian with their vehicle.

They arrived to find a person lying in the roadway, suffering from major injuries. 

The driver who injured the pedestrian, investigators said, did not stay at the scene.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, and police report that they are in critical condition.

Visalia Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating the incident.  Its members ask anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have information about the driver or vehicle involved, to call them at (559) 734-8117.
