A pickup truck going northbound on Alma Street had gone off the road and collided with the elevated median, according to a Palo Alto Police Department news release.
The driver was identified only as a man in his forties. He was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries. Police said his identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner pending notification of his next of kin.
The road was closed for about three hours while the scene was investigated. The crash remained under investigation as of Sunday.
