One killed in Highway 101 pileup near Palo Alto, driver arrested for DUI: CHP

(KRON) — A woman was killed and a man was arrested for DUI following a four-car pileup on Highway 101 near Palo Alto early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The pileup started around 2 a.m., when the driver of a white Acura SUV rear-ended a gray Toyota RAV4, causing the cars to break down in the northbound lanes of the highway, south of University Avenue, per CHP. Two more cars crashed into the wreck before authorities arrived at the scene.

“After the initial crash, a female driver of a white Subaru SUV crashed into the Toyota, then continued and crashed into the concrete center median,” CHP said. “Following this, a gray BMW sedan being operated by a male driver crashed into another involved vehicle.”
