Gumbo Games empower athletes with disabilities in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Athletes of varying physical ability met at Lee Hedges Stadium on Saturday for a unique track and field competition.

Move United sanctions the GUMBO State Governor’s Games, a series of adaptive track and field sports, including racing and field events, for athletes with physical, visual, hearing, or intellectual impairments.

The acronym GUMBO stands for Games United Mind and Body. The event, which has taken place in various cities across Louisiana, includes activities for youth through seniors and is open to competitors from across the state.
