Joseph Jhingory IV was arrested after incidents that occurred between December 2023 and July 2024 in Montgomery County, Anne Arundel County and on an air force base. The charges stem from around 10 separate incidents, according to police.
Starting on Dec. 1, 2023, Jhingory IV is accused of breaking into a home in Rockville armed with a gun. After the homeowners were bound and gagged, the female victim was sexually assaulted and their Volvo CX-40 was stolen, Montgomery County Police said.
On Feb. 9, 2024, detectives looked into two home burglaries in Bethesda from the previous night. Personal property was stolen from both homes, including a 2015 Mercedes GLK350.
Hours later, around 4:30 a.m., a gas station in the 8200 block of Wisconsin Avenue was robbed. The employee was tied up before money and merchandise were stolen, according to police.
Investigators identified Jhingory IV as the suspect. He was also the suspect in two attempted commercial burglaries in Anne Arundel County on Feb. 12, 2024, where he was allegedly involved in a vehicle pursuit with police using the stolen Mercedes from days prior. He crashed the car before running away, police said.
On Feb. 17, 2024, he reportedly tried to rob a victim in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven before fleeing, climbing a fence onto Andrews Air Force Base, and stealing a car. He crashed the car and was detained by military police before being released.
On July 10, 2024, 1st District officers were called to a Potomac home, where the homeowner reported that several personal items, clothing, and a 2014 Lexus had been stolen. The Lexus was later found on August 19 in a field in Calvert County, the same area where several other stolen vehicles had previously been abandoned.
Evidence gathered during the investigation later connected Jhingory IV to the Montgomery County crimes, including the February burglaries and commercial robbery.
Jhingory IV, who was previously being held at a Maryland juvenile facility on unrelated charges, was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, where he was formally served with warrants and charged in connection with the Montgomery County cases.
For the incidents that occurred in Montgomery County, Jhingory IV was charged with home invasion, armed robbery, use of a firearm in a violent crime, two counts of false imprisonment, two counts of first- and second-degree assault, third-degree sexual assault, two counts of vehicle theft and related offenses.
